Dale Oak
Oak Federal Solutions, LLC was established in 2017 by Dale Oak, who has more than 30 years of experience working on federal budget and appropriations matters in the government and private sectors. Dale’s most recent position in government was as Senior Advisor to the Chairman of the U.S. House Committee on Appropriations. He served as an appropriations process expert and provided guidance to the Committee’s twelve subcommittees to help them develop their appropriations bills from initial drafting to enactment. During his 20 years with the Appropriations Committee, Dale served in several roles that shaped his budget expertise. He was the first Staff Director of the Financial Services and General Government Subcommittee from 2007 to 2009, the lead budget numbers and scorekeeping expert from 1999 to 2006, and the manager of the Committee’s information systems office from 1995 to 1998. Over his tenure with the Committee, he served six chairmen, both Republican and Democratic. In 2009, Dale left the Appropriations Committee to work in the private sector as a Principal for a leading government relations and public affairs firm. He advocated for clients ranging from Fortune 500 federal contractors to small nonprofit organizations. He returned to the Committee in 2011 as Senior Advisor to the Chairman. Before joining the Appropriations Committee in 1995, Dale worked for the U.S. Office of Management and Budget in the Budget Review and Concepts Division. At OMB, he analyzed appropriations bills and participated in the development of the President’s annual budget. Dale graduated from the Anderson Graduate School of Management at UCLA in 1987 with a Master of Business Administration in Finance and Public/Not-for-Profit Management. Prior to attending graduate school, he was a Legislative Assistant for Rep. John R. McKernan (R-ME). He received his undergraduate education at Colby College in Maine, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1981. Dale currently works with Federal Budget IQ, a customized market intelligence consulting service for public sector business executives. |
